Spore Lab is thrilled to announce that we will be joining the Degu open source IoT sensor project as a consulting partner.
Launched in early 2019, the Degu project sets out to standardize the core set of technologies covering the entire flow of uploading sensor data to the cloud, with the goal of providing a simple and practical way of creating IoT device systems ready for use in the field.
With the Degu platform, wireless IoT sensor devices ("Degu sensors") connect with a gateway device using mesh networking. These Degu sensors can be programmed with the MicroPython language - a lean and efficient implementation of Python, which is one of the world’s most popular languages. This makes it even easier for people coming from fields such as web development, data science and machine learning to quickly start prototyping IoT systems.
As an open source project, both the hardware design information and software of the Degu sensors is freely available. Development kits compatible with the wide range of "Grove" sensor and actuator modules provide a quick and easy way to kick off development. With hardware design and manufacturing services also available, the Degu project offers a complete pathway from prototyping to mass production.
We’re both excited and honoured to be joining the Degu project as a consulting partner, offering our device software engineering and IoT system creation services to companies seeking to use Degu for their IoT deployments, as well as actively participating in the growing Degu community.
